Video Conferencing: A Business Opportunity

Posted by Patrick Russo on Sep 28, 2015 8:00:00 AM

The days of nodding off during conference calls are over. Video conferencing has advanced so much that it is now the preferred way to connect your business to the world and even your own employees with each other. It's no surprise why video conferencing has become so popular, literally seeing what you are discussing is far more effective and meaningful than trying to describe it verbally with an audio conference. After all a picture is worth a thousand words.

Video conferencing

76% of business decision-makers now use video conferencing at work, according to a global survey by Polycom. Surveying over 1,200 business decision-makers in 12 countries, Polycom found that 96% of business decision-makers believe video conferencing improves productivity between teams in different locations. This is just one reason why 56% of business decision-makers who use video conferencing today participate in at least one video meeting per week.

Video conferencing is not just for office to office use either. According to a new uSamp survey of 1,000 Americans, 65% of companies allow remote work. About a third of the workers at large companies actually take advantage of remote work. With so many people conducting business from home, video conferencing could keep employees connected in ways that conference calls cannot.

Benefits of Video conferencing:

  • Savings

    • The opportunity to be in several places at once without leaving your office will save on travel cost. Though there are initial upfront costs, return on investment is usually swift.
  • Increased productivity
    • Participants are more likely to stay alert and focused on what is being discussed resulting in faster project completion.
  • Improved time management
    • Video conferencing elliminates unproductive travel time. And results in fewer delayed meetings and generally shorter meetings. Conferences will produce immediate information exchange with faster responses and quicker decision making.
